The thermocouple is one of the most common reasons a patio heater shuts off or won't stay lit. It's a heat-sensing safety device — when the pilot flame is lit, it generates a small electrical current that holds the gas valve open. When the thermocouple fails, that current disappears and the valve closes, cutting off gas to the burner.
This genuine OEM thermocouple is sourced directly from Gardensun and fits most Hampton Bay, Master Forge, and Gardensun tall patio heaters. Installation takes about 10 minutes — no special tools required.
Symptom check: If your heater lights while holding the knob but shuts off a few seconds after releasing it, and the cross-wire tilt switch test didn't fix it, replace this thermocouple.
